Bail Revoked? What You Need To Know Now

Aubree Mccoy

If you get out of jail on a bail bond, it is easy to assume that all is good and you can move on with your life. However, when you are out on bail, there are certain situations when bail can be revoked, which also means your bail bond is revoked. Here are some things to know.

What Happens if a judge revokes your bail after a bail bond?

If a judge orders your bail to be revoked after you have been bonded out with the help of a bail bonds service, a warrant is most often issued for your immediate arrest. You will still be responsible for paying back the bail bonds service, in addition to other costs that may be associated with your arrest.

What are the reasons a bail can be revoked after getting out on a bail bond?

Some of the reasons bail bonds can be revoked include:

  • You do not return to a scheduled court hearing
  • You do not follow the terms of your release
  • You do not keep in touch with your bail bondsman agent

Can you get a bail bond if your bail has been revoked in the past?

It can definitely be a little harder to get a bail bond if you have bail revocations in the past. However, the likelihood of getting another bail bond can also rely on why your bail was ever revoked with other cases. For instance, you may not be able to get a bail bond if your bail was revoked before for skipping court, but if you violated a simple term of your bail like not shopping in a certain store where you were caught shoplifting, you may have an easier time getting another bond.

What is a bail revocation hearing?

A bail revocation hearing can mean a few different things. For the most part, this is what a hearing is called when you have to face a judge if your bail has been revoked. For example, if you used a bail bonds service to get out of jail on a domestic violence charge and then find out that you have a bail revocation hearing, this is typical. This form of hearing is a chance to state your side of events so the judge can fairly determine if the bail bond should be revoked. In the aforementioned example, there could be claims made that you were harassing the person who accused you of domestic violence.

About Me
Choosing Financial Freedom

One day I realized that I might have a shopping addiction. Every single thing that came across my computer screen or that I saw in stores I felt like I just had to have. It was an overwhelming, ever-present need, and it was really difficult for me. I didn't know what to do about it, so I decided to work with a counselor to overcome my obsession. She referred me to a financial counselor, and it really helped. Within a few months, I was able to see my problem and stop purchasing things that I didn't need. This blog is all about choosing financial freedom.
